I made a

surprising discovery about

fascia and yoga.

I've been studying and working with fascia since the early 90s and I've discovered two important elements:

1. Fascial changes need to be supported by Parasympathetic Nervous System engagement, and

2. Interoceptive feedback is essential to truly change the fascia.

Aggressive, fitness-focused yoga does NOT engage these two key elements.

Rather, subtle, internally-focused practices are a much better vehicle for effecting real change and working with the fascia!

Despite the common perception out there, Long holds, balls, and rollers are not the only way to improve the function of your fascia. Nor do they effectively integrate the subtle body, the mind, or the cosmos into their methodology... they tend to stay stuck in the physical. BUT we are interconnected body-mind-spirit beings.

Practice follows theory.

There are better ways to work with fascia that are subtle, comfortable, and more holistic. Fascial work doesn't have to be painful!

Watching fitness-focused yoga co-opt fascia compelled me to teach something different - a proven, holistic and safe methodology - with yoga teachers so they can help improve the lives of their students in a more comprehensive way.
