If you've been following Subtle® Yoga for a while, you probably already know that I believe yoga teachers need more than poses, anatomy and good sequencing skills.

We need to know how to work thoughtfully with the real people who come to us: people who are getting older, living with pain or chronic health conditions, managing stress and anxiety, recovering from illness, or simply needing a different kind of yoga.

It's been six years since we last offered our advanced teacher training. During that time, I've continued teaching, mentoring yoga teachers, working alongside healthcare professionals, and refining the Subtle® Yoga approach.

This new 300-hour training brings all of that work together. If you're looking for a way to deepen your teaching, become more confident working with a wider range of students, and develop a therapeutic, nervous-system-informed approach to yoga, I'd love you to take a look. - Kristine

If you've ever thought...

"I know how to teach yoga... but I don't always know how to teach the person standing in front of me."

You're not alone.

Most yoga teachers were never trained for the kind of people who are turning up for yoga classes these days including:

  • The student with chronic back pain

  • The older adult who cannot comfortably get down to the floor

  • The person living with anxiety, depression, or persistent fatigue

  • The student recovering from illness or cancer treatment

  • The person navigating osteoporosis, hypermobility, grief, trauma, or reduced mobility

These are not unusual situations anymore. This is no longer the exception - in the past decade or so, it has become the rule.

And yet many teachers are still trying to piece together their approach from workshops,  social media, and continuing education that often contradict each other.

Over time, that can leave you second-guessing yourself:

Are my cues correct?

Am I giving them enough options?

Could I be making things worse?

How do I include everyone without singling anyone out?

How do I stay within my scope while still being genuinely helpful?

Most 200-hour trainings were never designed to prepare teachers for this reality.

THIS TRAINING IS!

Yoga students have changed. Our training needs to change with them.

When many of us completed our initial teacher training, the yoga landscape looked very different. There were many young, flexible, athletic women flocking to yoga classes. But the population is aging, and so are our students.

Today, people often come to yoga seeking support for:

  • Chronic pain

  • Anxiety

  • Recovery from illness

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Chronic pain

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Healthy aging

  • Recovery from illness

  • Improved mobility

  • Nervous system regulation

  • A deeper sense of wellbeing

  • Stress

  • Healthy aging

  • Improved mobility

  • A deeper sense of wellbeing

They want yoga that meets their specific needs.

If you've felt the gap between what your original training taught you and what real teaching now requires, you're not imagining it.

But, this gap can be filled! But not with the random and often conflicting array of yoga information out there - what you need is a practical framework for teaching real people.

That's what this training is designed to teach you.

Early Bird Tuition expires August 29th, 2026

A different way to become an advanced yoga teacher

Many 300-hour trainings are organized around learning more: anatomy, biomechanics, techniques, and information.

Those things can be valuable. But information is not the same thing as knowing what to do with the actual person in front of you. What do you do when their needs do not fit neatly into a textbook or a standard class plan?

How do you decide which tools are appropriate? When do you adapt? When do you refer? How do breath-centric movement, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, and nervous system science fit together rather than becoming separate pieces of information?

This training gives you an integrated framework for answering those questions. The aim isn’t simply to know more at the end of the year. It’s to become a more confident, discerning and skillful teacher.

Why Subtle® Yoga?

Subtle® Yoga isn't a bunch of techniques cobbled together. It also isn’t a strenuous workout, or a flexibility competition.

It’s a methodology Kristine has developed and refined over decades of studying, teaching, training teachers, practicing yoga therapy, and working alongside healthcare professionals that changes bodies, nervous systems, and lives.

Subtle® Yoga integrates authentic yoga practices, philosophy, and lifestyle with contemporary understandings of the anatomy, physiology, the nervous system, persistent pain, mental health, and trauma. Studying Subtle® Yoga will help you become a more skillful yoga teacher – someone who thinks critically, adapts appropriately, and can confidently meet the needs of the real people who show up for your classes.

Go deep, build incredible skills, and give your students amazing results.

Kristine Kaoverii Weber, MA, C-IAYT, ERYT500 has been an avid student of yoga since 1989, teaching yoga since 1995, and training yoga teachers since 2003. She is the director of the Subtle® Yoga Teacher Training for Behavioral Health Professionals program at the University of North Carolina Health Sciences at MAHEC in Asheville and the yoga therapy representative of the Integrative Health Policy Consortium where she advocates for the integration of yoga into the healthcare system.

Kristine also consults with a research team and Emory University. Kristine presents workshops and trainings internationally and is frequently invited to present at health care and mental health conferences.

Kristine is the author of Healing Self Massage and has published numerous articles. Her work has been featured in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Yoga Therapy Today, YogaU, Redbook, BodySense, Women's World, Natural Health, and Lifetime TV. Find out more at www.subtleyoga.com.

The Subtle® Yoga Therapeutic Teaching Method

At the heart of this training is a simple concept:

Great teachers know how to think about their students’ needs and choose and sequence appropriate tools accordingly.

Over decades of teaching yoga, training teachers, and working in healthcare, behavioral health, and community settings, Kristine has refined an approach that helps teachers make thoughtful decisions for the people in front of them.

We call it:

The Subtle® Yoga Therapeutic Teaching Method.

Rather than a rigid formula or script, it’s a practical framework that helps you understand why you're choosing a particular practice, how to adapt it, what you're looking for in your students' responses, and how to stay appropriately within your scope.

By the end of the year, you won’t simply have accumulated another 300 hours of training. You'll have a framework you can continue using to improve your teaching for years to come.

What graduates of Kristine's advanced teacher training say

"This program has taught me more practical tools for my own life, and for my clients that I ever could have imagined! I learned more in this program than I did from an elite liberal arts education. This program was the most productive, valuable, practical and magical year of my academic life."

Cait Klein RYT500

“The world is waiting for these teachings! My understanding of therapeutic yoga is much improved. I see how many more tools I have to work with, I also feel that I know a lot intuitively and can draw from all the program's teachings... The facilitators have a deep knowledge and practice that enhances their teachings. I appreciated the focus on the practical applications of yoga therapy and tools to integrate the practice into traditional western medicine.”

Jacci Lea

Imagine how your teaching could feel a year from now

Imagine...

  • Walking into class and feeling confident and calm instead of wondering who might show up with a condition you don't feel equipped to support

  • Knowing how to adapt without second-guessing yourself

  • Feeling more confident when someone tells you they have osteoporosis, chronic pain, anxiety, limited mobility, or are recovering from illness

Instead of worrying about what to avoid, you'll know how to work with the person in front of you and how to refer to a health care professional if they are not a good fit for your class.

You'll also gain something many teachers don’t even know they are searching for:

Deeper trust in yourself and your skills as a teacher.

Instead of wondering whether you know enough, you'll have a clearer framework for making decisions, adapting your teaching and recognising when something is outside your scope.

And If you've ever felt pressure to teach faster, harder, or more performance-oriented classes because that’s what seems to sell, this training will help you stand more confidently in another way of teaching - one that is evidence-informed and genuinely useful.

What you'll study

Throughout the year, you'll explore advanced teaching through a broad but carefully integrated curriculum, including:

  • Breath-centric asanas and nervous system sequencing

  • Chanting, pranayama and meditation and how asanas specifically help prepare for these deeper practices (also how to make them accessible and interesting to students who understand yoga as poses only)

  • Therapeutic application of yoga to support those with common chronic health issues including musculoskeletal conditions (like low back and neck pain), hypermobility, osteoporosis, heart conditions, persistent pain, mental health issues, and fatigue

  • Ayurveda as a practical framework for teaching

  • Using a chair - chair classes and chair as a prop

  • Therapeutic assessment and intelligent adaptation

  • Professional ethics and appropriate scope of practice

This curriculum will help you make better teaching decisions to meet the needs of the real people who come to yoga classes.

hear from our students of our advanced teacher training

"I feel that I have more tools, structure and general  know-how toward application than when I completed my 2-year graduate degree. Academic programs are usually faaaaaar too heavy on theory. It goes with the territory of yoga to be practice-based, but I'm still blown away by the breadth of resources I now have to work with to be of help to others.

I also feel it is worth noting that I am exponentially more confident teaching group classes and that I feel exponentially more competent in offering suggestions and answering individual questions from students that arise during and after class."

Jenne Sluder RYT500, Asheville, NC

“I have been practicing, studying, and teaching yoga for 25 years, and I learned more in Kristine's 500 hour teacher training than I have in all those years of studying yoga. Kristine is masterful with her deep body of knowledge of the current research and trends in yoga therapy, along with her personal experience and practice of yoga.  She truly embodies this practice and is able to take so much knowledge and convey it so beautifully through the practice and lectures.

Kristine's Subtle Yoga training has forever changed the way that I look at, understand, and practice yoga.  I feel that I have gained the skills to be able to work with a wide variety of students in class and one on one, in a safe and effective way.  Kristine makes yoga accessible to everyone, and I am so grateful for her teachings and those of the other instructors in her 500 hour training."

Robin Fann-Costanzo, Asheville, NC

is this training for me?

This training is likely to be a good fit for

you if…

  • You want to feel more confident teaching older adults and people living with chronic health conditions

  • You believe yoga can be slower, more accessible, and more meaningful than much of what is commonly taught today

  • You want a clear framework for adapting classes instead of relying on your 200 hour teacher training manual

  • You want to understand how breath, asanas, pranayama, and meditation work together in an integrated practice

  • You want depth, mentorship, and integration rather than a rushed certification

  • You are a yoga teacher, clinician, movement teacher, health or wellness professional, or serious practitioner wanting to deepen your understanding of the Subtle® Yoga method

This training may not be the right fit if...

  • You are primarily looking for advanced pose practice or performance-based teaching

  • You want a fast-track 300-hour training with minimal participation

  • You are looking mainly for complex biomechanics or a heavily technical science course

  • You do not want to engage in practicum, reflection, mentor sessions, and applied learning

A year to learn, practice, reflect, and grow

This isn't 300 hours of information you're left to make sense of on your own. The value of spending a year together is in what happens between learning something and actually being able to use it.

You'll learn a concept, explore it in practice, try it in your own teaching, discuss what happened, ask questions, receive feedback and gradually refine your skills. That's why mentoring, practicum and integration are such important parts of this training.

You're not simply buying access to 300 hours of content. You're giving yourself a year to become a better teacher.

This training is a year-long immersive experience. It is not rushed, and it's also not filled with lengthy, exhausting training weekends.

From November 2026 through October 2027, you'll have time to learn new concepts, apply them in your own teaching, reflect on what you're noticing, ask questions, receive feedback, and steadily refine your skills.

How the year works

  • Monthly Integration Sessions with Kristine

  • Monthly 2-hour Mentor Sessions in small groups

  • A WhatsApp group with your mentor for asking questions between sessions

  • Ongoing practicum throughout the year

  • An applied final project

  • A combination of self-paced study and live online learning

  • 4 completely online weekend training sessions

  • 4 hybrid Asheville weekends that may be attended online or in person (space is limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis)

  • Recordings and make-up work options when live attendance is not possible

  • A final October online weekend, including final practicum, project integration, mentor feedback, and completion

What if I can’t attend everything live?

Live participation is strongly encouraged because discussion, practicum, mentoring, and integration happen there.

If you miss a session, recordings and make-up assignments are available in many cases. However, participants must complete the full training requirements, including coursework, mentor sessions, practicum, final project, and completion requirements, in order to receive certification.

The October 2027 final online weekend should be attended live if possible, as it includes final practicum and project integration

You'll also receive

Chakras Beyond the Rainbow: Rethinking New Interpretations, Reclaiming Traditional Wisdom

This 6-hour course (which you may wish to review before the May 2027 hybrid weekend training) is for participants who want a deeper dive into the history, philosophy, and practices of the subtle body.

Full Subtle® Yoga for Back Care Recordings

Participants receive the full Subtle® Yoga for Back Care recordings so they can watch before Module 2 in order to learn about yoga for back care.

Subtle® Yoga Practice Pack

A collection of scribed Subtle® Yoga sequences (stick figures) that you can take with you to class and teach.

Early Bird Orientation with Kristine

A 1-hour live orientation session to help early enrollees prepare for the year, and get organized before the opening weekend.

This is a big decision. You don't have to make it alone.

If you're reading this and thinking, “This sounds like what I've been looking for, but I'm still not sure…”, let's talk.

You may be wondering whether you have enough experience, whether you'll realistically manage the workload, whether the training fits the way you want to teach, or simply whether it's worth making this investment at this point in your life or career.

Those are sensible questions.

If you're seriously considering joining us, you can book a complimentary 20-minute conversation with Kristine.

Bring your questions. Kristine will talk about what you're looking for and help you work out whether this training is a good fit.

You do not need to be pursuing Yoga Alliance registration to benefit from this training.

Anyone may apply. However, this is a practicum-based training, and participants will be asked to teach.

What graduates of Kristine's advanced teacher training say

"Kristine's professional insights and knowledge of the therapeutic application of yoga principles and practices is vast and compelling.  She is able to skillfully convey the information in a way that is both engaging and informative as well as inspiring.  I've learned so much about yoga as prevention for disease of all kinds and feel that yoga is (once again) the new medicine for mind/body and spirit.

This training is comprehensive and based on current best evidence as well as progressive with an eye on future trends in public healthcare.  I am inspired by this program.  I feel confident, well-prepared and highly enthusiastic to take my training into the world to serve those who need it most and might not otherwise step into a yoga studio."

Margaret Kirschner, Asheville, NC

"With a fitness/personal trainer background, I began attending Kristine's yoga classes with a desire to calm my Type A/aggressive personality and remember to breathe!  With her vast knowledge of the mind/body/spirit connection, her authentically patient humility, and genuine empathy for the human condition; Kristine Weber has created a yogic teaching system that is supernaturally inspired!

Not only did I learn to love yoga for its calming properties, but after 500 hours of Kristine's teaching, I am living a yogic lifestyle.  She has taught me how important all eight limbs of yoga are and that it's not just about the physical asanas but the service, meditation, breathwork, devotion, eating, etc. that truly change how we live and give. I cannot recommend highly enough the lifelong value of this program. "

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I experienced enough for this training?

This training is for yoga professionals, clinicians, movement teachers, health and wellness professionals, and serious practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of the Subtle® Yoga method. You do not have to be currently teaching yoga to participate. The training is especially relevant for people who want to teach slow, mindful, breath-centered yoga in a way that is accessible, nervous-system-informed, trauma-informed, and appropriate for real people with real bodies.

Do I need to be currently teaching?

Anyone may apply for this training. However, this training has a heavy practicum focus. You will be asked to teach. Also, if you wish to use this program toward RYT 500 registration with Yoga Alliance, you must already have completed a 200-hour teacher training. This 300-hour advanced training meets the Yoga Alliance 300-hour advanced training requirements. After successful completion, eligible participants may apply with Yoga Alliance for RYT 500 status according to Yoga Alliance requirements.

This 300-hour advanced training meets the Yoga Alliance 300-hour advanced training requirements. After successful completion, eligible participants may apply with Yoga Alliance for RYT 500 status according to Yoga Alliance requirements.

Can I complete the whole training online?

Yes. You can complete the full 300-hour training online if you have access to consistent high speed internet. The four Asheville hybrid weekends are offered for participants who would like to attend in person, but in-person attendance is optional. You do not need to travel to Asheville to complete the training. However, if you choose to attend the in-person weekends, you must register for them immediately. These spots will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

I'm not very comfortable with technology. Can I still participate?

While access to high speed internet is required for the training and most of the learning is online, you will find our platforms very user friendly and easy to use. We also have support available with questions to get you comfortable with learning online.

How is the training structured?

The training includes:

· required prerecorded curriculum

· online weekends

· hybrid weekends (attended online or in person)

· monthly Integration Sessions

· monthly Mentor Sessions

· personal practice and reflection

· practicum

· an applied final project

· final practicum during the October online weekend

The program is designed as an integrated year-long experience, not a rushed series of exhausting training days.

How many hours are included?

The 300-hour training includes:

· About 90 hours of required prerecorded curriculum

· About 180 hours of live/synchronous training

· About 30 non-contact hours of personal practice, reflection, preparation, and integration

Total: 300 hours

How much work should I expect each month?

The time commitment varies month-to-month. There is pre-recorded material, a 2-hour Integration Session, a 2-hour mentor session, personal practice, and reflection or preparation every month. Some months also include a full live weekend (either online or hybrid). The program is intentionally spread across a full year so you are not forced to absorb large amounts of information during successive long weekends. The curriculum is designed to support integration through repetition, practice, and scheduling accommodation

How much live participation is required?

Live Zoom participation is strongly encouraged.

The training includes online weekends, hybrid weekends, Integration Sessions, mentor sessions, and a final online completion weekend. These live sessions are where discussion, practicum, feedback and integration happen. Most sessions will be available as recordings, and make-up work will be assigned when live attendance is not possible. Participants must complete all training requirements in order to receive certification.

What if I miss a live session?

We understand that life happens. Time zones, illness, caregiving, work, and family responsibilities may occasionally make live attendance difficult. Missed sessions may be made up by watching recordings and completing a brief reflection or integration assignment. However, because this is a live, mentored training, participants should plan to attend live as much as possible. Participants must complete the required training hours, assignments, mentor sessions, practicum, final project, and completion requirements.

What if I live outside the US?

Participants outside the United States are welcome. Live sessions are scheduled in US Eastern Time. We understand that time zones may make some sessions challenging, and we will do our best to support participants in different regions. The October online weekend should be attended live on Zoom (or in person) if possible because it includes final practicum and project integration. Is this yoga therapy training?

This is not a C-IAYT. Yoga therapy is a 1000 hour training course. In this 300 hour training, we focus on wellness, health promotion, adapting practices to meet the needs of particular groups, and the therapeutic aspects of yoga practice.

Will this training make me eligible for RYT500?

If you have already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, this program meets the 300-hour advanced training requirement for RYT500 eligibility with Yoga Alliance.

After you successfully complete the full 300-hour program, including required coursework, live participation, mentor sessions, assignments, practicum, final project, and completion requirements, eligible participants may register with Yoga Alliance for the RYT500.

What if I've already taken Subtle® Yoga courses?

If you've completed eligible Subtle® Yoga coursework you may receive tuition credits. You can calculate your tuition credits and payment plan amounts in the section above titled "Tuition, deadlines, and how to reserve your place".

However, all participants must complete the full 300-hour training requirements, including required coursework, live participation, mentor sessions, assignments, practicum, final project, and completion requirements.

Which prior Subtle® Yoga courses may qualify for tuition credit?

Eligible prior Subtle® Yoga coursework may include:

· Subtle® Yoga Revolution Online Teacher Training - tuition credit: $400

· Science of Yogic Meditation - tuition credit: $100

· Subtle® Yoga for Enhancing Trauma Recovery - tuition credit: $200

· Foundations of Breathwork - tuition credit: $200

· Teaching Mixed Chair and Mat Classes - tuition credit: $200

Prior-course credits are verified internally and applied to the tuition tier in effect at enrollment.

You can calculate your tuition credits and payment plan amounts in the section above titled "Tuition, deadlines, and how to reserve your place".

What if I'm unsure whether my previous courses qualify for credit?

Check your Subtle Yoga course library: https://subtleyoga.mykajabi.com/library to see which of the following courses included in the 300-Hour Advanced Teacher Training curriculum you have completed (if any):

Subtle Yoga Revolution Online Teacher Training   $400

Science of Yoga Meditation  $100

Subtle Yoga for Enhancing Trauma Recovery  $200

 Foundations of Breathwork  $200

Teaching Mixed Chair and Mat Classes $200

(These courses are included in the 300 hour curriculum, so they are the only courses that qualify for tuition credit.)

What happens after I pay my deposit?

Pay your deposit ($497) to reserve your space (your deposit is applied to your tuition and is not an additional charge) and we will send an application.

We will contact you next to choose how you’d like to pay the balance:

Pay in full by September 1 (no plan fees)

Pay over 3 monthly installments (includes a $300 payment plan fee)

Pay over 6 monthly installments (includes a $600 payment plan fee)

Are payment plans available?

Yes. Monthly payment plans for 3 and 6 months are available. Payment plans are calculated after any eligible prior-course credit is applied. Payment plans require an additional set payment plan fee versus paying the outstanding amount upfront. You can work out your tuition and payment plan amounts by referring to the section above titled "Tuition, deadlines, and how to reserve your place".

What is the refund policy?

If you withdraw within 7 days of enrollment, you may request a refund minus a $150 administrative fee. After 7 days, the deposit is non-refundable. If, after reviewing your Enrollment Intake form, we determine that the training is not an appropriate fit, we will contact you directly and refund your payment in its entirety.

If you enroll in a payment plan, you are responsible for completing the agreed payment schedule unless a written exception is approved. Please make sure this is the right program for you by reading the program guide and asking any questions you need by emailing [email protected]. No tuition refunds will be granted after the initial 7 days.

Can I talk to someone before enrolling?

Yes. If you’re seriously considering the training but would like to talk through your circumstances or ask some questions first, you can book a complimentary 20-minute conversation with Kristine.

Is this the next step in your teaching?

If you are ready to develop the confidence, depth and practical skills to better serve the real people who show up for your classes, we'd love to welcome you to this cohort. This is the first Subtle® Yoga advanced teacher training offered since 2020, and we currently have no plans to offer it again before 2030.

Early Bird Tuition is $4,497 through August 29th, 2026.

You can reserve your place today with a $497 deposit. If you've completed eligible Subtle® Yoga courses, you may also receive up to $1,100 in tuition credits.

I’m ready to join.

I think this may be right for me, but I’d like to talk it through first.

A 300-hour training is a significant commitment. Book a complimentary 20-minute conversation with Kristine, bring your questions, and Kristine will help you decide whether this particular training is right for you.

Early Bird Tuition expires August 29th, 2026
